Welcome to Thurmaston

Thurmaston is a large village situated in Leicestershire adjoining Leicester. The East of Thurmaston is the mostly residential newer part of Thurmaston, and to the West is the main part of the old village on Melton Road, standing on the old Fosse Way, the historic road built by the Romans. Thurmaston is situated on the Eastern bank of the River Soar. To the west of Thurmaston is Watermead Country Park, one of the most visited tourist attractions in Leicestershire. The purpose built lakes provide a wonderful nature reserve enjoyed by wildlife and people alike.  Thurmaston benefits from Thurmaston Shopping Centre, along with many other retail units and factories. Thurmaston is twinned with Offranville, France.

The field behind will be available for residents to bring a picnic and celebrate together. The evening will culminate in a ‘Lights of Peace’ procession to remember the Thurmaston soldiers who died in the war. The procession will be led by the Scout & Guide Band, followed by the lighting of a beacon at 9.30pm. This event is being organised by Thurmaston Parish Council and supported by Thurmaston Branch Royal British Legion, Thurmaston Scouts & Guides, and St Michael & All Angels who hope the community will come together to honour and celebrate this significant milestone in history.
